Francis Ford Coppola Winery Launches Pool House Wines

New Light, Refreshing Wines are Lower in Sugar, Calories and Alcohol Without Sacrificing Flavor

June 9th – GEYSERVILLE, CA — Francis Ford Coppola Winery, the award-winning Northern California destination winery, proudly announces the launch of Pool House, a new portfolio of low-alcohol, low-calorie wines that are flavorful, light and refreshing, ideal for pool-side sipping, long summer afternoons and beach-bound escapades.

Pool House was inspired by its namesake, the idyllic pool at Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Sonoma County. Guests would often request sessionable wines to enjoy during their daytime visits, so Coppola’s winemakers set out to craft 4 varietally-true, flavorful options with lower alcohol and fewer calories. They select vineyards known to produce grapes with flavor intensity and then harvest early to keep the amount of sugar naturally produced by the grape at a minimum. Less sugar in the grapes means less alcohol, and the use of ‘spinning cone’ technology during the vinification process reduces the ABV even further. As a result the wines have between 75-85 calories per serving with just 4 carbs and 1 gram of sugar, clocking in at 9% ABV.

“We created Pool House wines to be full-flavored first, with the added benefit of lower calories, sugar and alcohol,” says Corey Beck, Winemaking Chief for Francis Ford Coppola Winery. “A lot went into the vineyard selection to make this possible, and we’re thrilled to share the final product in time for the Summer season.”

The range, available in 12 oz cans and 750 ml bottles, includes:

  • California Sauvignon Blanc: Aromas of citrus, layered grapefruit and passion fruit. Flavor notes include fresh citrus, touches of lime, green apple and passion fruit.
  • California Rosé: Aromas of fruit forward red berries, strawberry, red currant and candied raspberries. Flavor notes include red cherry, pomegranate, strawberries, and raspberries.
  • California Pinot Noir: Aromas of black cherries, and raspberry. Flavor notes include vanilla oak, elegant black cherries, and raspberry.
  • California Brut Rosé: Aromas of fresh and festive mousse, refreshing red cherries and raspberry. Flavor notes include red cherry, pomegranate, strawberries, and raspberries.

Pool House wines (9% ABV) are available for nationwide shipping HERE. Use the store locator to find local availability. SRP is $6.98 per 12 oz can and $14.98 per 750 ml bottle.

Background

The pool at Francis Ford Coppola’s Sonoma County winery may be an iconic destination now, but when he first had the vision to build it people thought he was crazy. Ultimately, his forward-thinking ways triumphed and it became a must-visit Northern California destination for afternoons of carefree enjoyment, great food, wine and music with friends and family. That same spirit of fun and innovation guided the creation of Pool House wines.
