NAPA / SONOMA, CALIFORNIA | June 3, 2021: On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, from 3:30. to 5:00 p.m. the Napa | Sonoma chapter of Women for WineSense’s (WWS) Winemaking & Viticulture Roundtable presents “The Science of Communication: Cracking Codes and Avoiding Common Disconnects.” a highly interactive webinar with communications expert, coach and author, Geni Whitehouse. The goal is to help attendees learn to identify their own communication style and get high-impact tips for understanding others.
ABOUT THE EVENT:
Log-ins open at 3:20 p.m. and the webinar begins at 3:30 p.m. with announcements, followed by a highly interactive presentation with live chat Q&A.
As Ms. Whitehouse promises, “You’ll learn why that former boss never reads beyond the first line in an email, why some people take longer to reach a decision, and how to deal with them both. You’ll leave this session with new insights on the connections you make with others in your business and personal life.”

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Geni Whitehouse, CPA.CITP, CSPM, divides her time between working as a winery consultant at Brotemarkle, Davis & Co in the Napa Valley, working with www.TheImpactfulAdvisor.com to drive the accounting profession forward, and writing, speaking, and tweeting at EvenANerd.com.
In her role at BDCo, she regularly teaches financial concepts to members of the Napa Valley Vintners, representing more than 500 wineries in the Napa Valley. And has presented for the Wine Industry Technology Symposium, Unified Wine and Grape Symposium, Women for WineSense Grand Event, and has moderated numerous wine industry panels. She is returning for a second year as a presenter at the “Bottles Brews & Buds Conference” conducted by the Washington Society of CPAs in August.
She is a wine industry financial educator for WISE Academy and Sonoma State University and a co-founder of Solve Services, a remote bookkeeping business for the wine industry.
She is a regular keynote presenter at CPA and Technology conferences around the country and has been named a Top 100 Influencer by Accounting Today, one of 25 Thought Leaders in Accounting, and one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Accounting by CPA Practice Advisor. She was a member of the TEDxNapaValley organizing committee and was the first speaker at their inaugural event. Her book,“How to Make a Boring Subject Interesting: 52 ways even a nerd can be heard” , is available online.

ABOUT THE WINEMAKING & VITICULTURAL ROUNDTABLE:
This WWS Roundtable meets approximately six times a year, taking a harvest break. During pandemic, the events have moved online and will resume after harvest 2021 with much celebration at host member wineries in person with a virtual options added for expanded member access.
Ms. Lumgair noted “Our past meeting topics have focused upon the C-suite professional skills and insights women winemakers and viticulture professionals need but aren’t always easy to get in their daily work environment.”
She further explained that, “Held online in since Spring 2020 and pre-pandemic at some of Napa and Sonoma’s finest host wineries, these programs have been a fantastic opportunity for over 100 member women winemakers and viticulturists to connect directly, in a friendly professional forum, with experts that they otherwise wouldn’t get to meet for personal advice and questions. Some of our noted speakers have included numerous top wine writers, key publication critics and senior editors, leading academics, global sensory consultants, sommeliers, media trainers, CFO’s and GM’s in panel discussions, international winemaking and viticulture peers, industry career coaches and top level recruiters.”
ABOUT ADDITIONAL WWS ROUNDTABLES: WWS’ eight current professional roundtables serve to provide a welcoming and confidential environment to meet in small peer groups on a bi-monthly or quarterly basis. Members network, provide advice and support for one another, as well as foster educational occasions by inviting guest speakers in their fields and discussing ‘hot issues’ facing members in their day-to-day work.
