Tussock Jumper Releases New Vintages

New sustainably sourced whites and rosé wine are now available to the US market

March 30th, 2021, New York, NYTri-Vin Imports announced this week that new 2020 vintages of their global wine portfolio, Tussock Jumper, are now available for the US market. These wines are sustainably sourced from small farms in 11 different global wine regions, then blended using single varietals to produce each vintage. The following are their new white and rosé offerings.

Tussock Jumper Chardonnay 2020 – Central and Southwest France ($12.99)

A pale golden color with aromas of apricot, pear, and green apple, this fresh, fruit forward wine is crisp and dry-ideal for pairing with food. On the palate, notes of toasted hazelnuts, citrus, and a hint of vanilla give it a slight, buttery finish.

The grapes for this wine were selected from several plots selected in the Languedoc foothills of the Cévennes, the Hérault area, the Aude Valley, and the region of Limoux in the south of France.

It pairs well with dishes like roast chicken, fettuccini alfredo, lemon butter shrimp, and vegetarian fare. 13% ABV, 100% Chardonnay.

Tussock Jumper Chenin Blanc 2020 – Stellenbosch, South Africa ($12.99)  – 90 points

This wine is off dry in style with flavors and aromas of lime zest, guava, and tropical fruit, along with a crisp, elegant minerality and finish. This wine is made with minimal cellar intervention, with the grapes coming from select vineyards in the Helderberg and Paarl regions, as well as bushvine and trellised vines from the high slopes of the Du Toitskloof mountains. After brief skin contact, free-run juice was cold fermented in the tank. The wine spent an additional 120 days on the lees prior to final blending.

The perfect wine for Caribbean fare like jerk shrimp pasta, apple glazed pork chops, or vegetable empanadas. 13% ABV, 100% Chenin Blanc.

Tussock Jumper Grenache Rosé 2020 – Central and Southwest France ($12.99)

Refreshing, with crisp flavors of juicy strawberries, red raspberries, and a hint of spice. This salmon-colored Grenache based rosé has a light body, and soft, fruity finish that pairs well with summer dishes like lobster rolls, soft cheeses, and charcuterie.

It is the ideal wine for summer and warm weather sipping. 12.5% ABV, 100% Grenache.

Tussock Jumper 2020 Riesling – Mosel, Germany ($11.99)

Bright and balanced with crisp acidity, this smooth-drinking Riesling has flavors and aromas of juicy golden apple, melon, and lemon aromas with a refreshing, mineral-forward finish.

The grapes for this wine come from vineyards along the beautiful sun-drenched valleys of the Mosel and Rhein rivers in the Western Germany. Pair it with curries, Asian dishes, sushi, and spicy foods. The ABV is 10.5%, 100% Riesling.

Tussock Jumper Sauvignon Blanc 2020 – Marlborough, New Zealand ($11.99)

A bright, sustainably made Sauvignon Blanc (89 points, Blue Lifestyle), this coastally sourced white wine has aromas of citrus and passion fruit, as well as grassy aromas and gooseberry. The palate is crisp, with tropical fruit flavors of pineapple, melon, and grapefruit, followed by a long finish.

The 2020 growing season created a very good vintage with prolonged dry spells, attributing to concentrated flavors and aromas. This vintage is  made from a blend of three vineyards, notably two in Wairau Valley, and one in Waihopai Valley. Blocks were picked at optimum ripeness, and gently pressed. Cold fermentation was used, with the wine aged on the lees for approximately 4 weeks, and then filtered.

A great accompaniment to dishes like shrimp and seafood, poultry, grilled vegetables, and lighter fare. The wine is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes, with an ABV of 13%.
