SALINAS, CA — January 13, 2021 – PH Importing, a national fine wine import company, has added another winery to its national import portfolio, Talamonti of Abruzzo, Italy. The announcement reflects an exclusive national marketing and sales agreement, effective immediately.
PH Importing founder Bob Piotrowski shared his enthusiasm, “Talamonti is truly a winery in a league of its own. The wines sparkle as a bastion of quality, especially with their sustainable vineyard and winemaking practices in a region often thought of as purely volume and value”, he remarked. “Antonella Di Tonno and Rodrigo Redmont have created beautiful wines from an amazing estate and it will be a treat to share them with the country.”
Considered one of the hallmark producers in Abruzzo, Talamonti was founded in 2001 by the Di Tonno-Redmont family, located in Loreto Aprutino, Abruzzo in central Italy. Dedicated to showcasing the region’s rich history and ideal climate for grape production, the estate is also committed to sustainable viticulture and organic winemaking practices whenever possible. The winery focuses production on a number of varieties including the classic Abruzzo grapes; Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Pecorino.
Wines imported include the winery’s TREBI- Trebbiano d’Abruzzo DOC, ATERNUM- Trebbiano d’Abruzo DOC, TRABOCCHETTO Pecorino- Pecorino IGP, ROSÉ – Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC, KUDOS- Rosso IGP (Montepulciano/Merlot Blend), MODA- Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC and TRE SAGGI- Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC.
In just under 20 years, the winery and its wines have been consistently recognized by wine press and critics including Decanter, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, International Wine Awards, Gambero Rosso, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, Korea Wine Awards, Mundus Vini, Berliner Wine Trophy, and many more. They have earned international acclaim for their “Trabocchetto” Pecorino di Abruzzo (Pecorino Colline Pescaresi IGT), which has received more awards than any other wine from the region.
“We are very excited to join forces with PH Importing in the United States and to promote sustainable wines from Abruzzo via their expertise”, remarked Rodrigo Redmont, President/Owner. “With more Americans truly appreciating Italian wines and lifestyle, our goal is to promote the extraordinary biodiversity of Abruzzo through our artisan wines. In Italy, together with Prosecco and Brunello, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo represents one of Italy’s most widely
recognized and appreciated appellations. We will pour all our passion and efforts in pushing its recognition to greater heights in the US.”
PH Importing is strategically aligned with Scheid Family Wines of California. Scheid is providing the logistic, analytical and distribution structure for national integration and support of the PH Importing portfolio.
