Eva Fricke Joins the German Wine Collection

The German Wine Collection Welcomes a New Star

The newly formed U.S. importer, The German Wine Collection (The GWC) is pleased to announce that Eva Fricke, a Riesling specialist located in Rheingau and one of the new stars on the German winemaking scene, will be joining the growing portfolio of wineries it now represents in the U.S. market. Starting immediately, Eva Fricke’s signature Rieslings will be imported and distributed in 46 states.

Fricke, whose estate is located in the town of Eltville am Rhein, started her own project in 2006, following a 20-year tenure at the renowned Leitz winery in the Rheingau. Her winery has grown continuously over the years, as she’s been perfecting her style. Her vineyards are cultivated according to ecological principles and wines are made with minimalist cellar technology, putting emphasis on two key elements: origin and minerality. She cultivates 17 hectares and her wines can be found on the lists of Michelin-starred restaurants, renowned wine bars and luxury hotels. Over the years her wines have garnered high scores from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator and JamesSuckling.com, most recently receiving 100-point scores three times for her 2019 releases.

“Before signing Eva on, I spoke to our growers and they were unanimously on board. Rebholz, Raumland, and Joh. Jos. Prüm are especially big fans of Eva and her work and thought the addition of her wines would only boost the prestige of the portfolio which is a win for all of us,” says Jenna Fields, president of The GWC.

Since its founding in early 2020 by Albert Behler, proprietor of the historic Weingut Karthäuserhof in Mosel’s Ruwer district, The GWC has managed to build an impressive portfolio fully dedicated to German wines—their proficiency and know-how, allowing them to keep Germany’s top wine estates under one umbrella.

Eva Fricke will be the 18th producer to join their ranks, which already includes wines from many famous estates, including Friedrich Becker, Fritz Müller, Hans Wirsching, Joh, Jos. Prüm, Meyer-Näkel, Mönchhof, Pfeffingen, Rainer Sauer, Raumland (recently recognized as the VDP’s first sparkling based winery), Rebholz, Reichsrat von Buhl, Reinhold Haart, Salwey, Schäfer Fröhlich, Schnaitmann, Wagner-Stempel, and Willems Willems; all of which are eco-friendly, sustainable, biodynamic, and/or organic.

Eva Fricke is the perfect addition to The GWC portfolio, being the only producer from the Rheingau, but also sharing similar eco-friendly principles of the other estates. “I am very excited to work with The GWC. I admire their work and think that they will not only be great for me, but for German wines in general!” says Eva Fricke.
