Prosecco Doc Rosé Promotion Kicks off Worldwide with Style

The Prosecco DOC Consortium officially launches the long-awaited pink bubbles with an extraordinary celebration press event

New York, NY, December 3rd, 2020 – On Wednesday, November 25th, the Consorzio Tutela Prosecco DOC officially launched the promotional campaign for the newly introduced Prosecco DOC Rosé category, with an event rich with endorsements and support from chefs, Masters of Wine, sommeliers, and influencers from all over the world.

The event held at the picturesque “Del Monaco” Theatre in Treviso, Italy, marked a historic milestone for the Prosecco DOC Consortium and the beginning of a new adventure for the Rosé category. The decision to host the launch event in a theatre with opera performances highlighted the nature of the Italian Genio – a concept that encloses the culture and the excellence made in Italy – and the love the Prosecco DOC Consortium has for the arts, culture, and Italian history.

Some of the most important food & wine industry personalities from around the world such as  Lidia Bastianich, Carlo Cracco, and Christy Canterbury MW participated in the launch via streaming. They interacted digitally with the Prosecco DOC Consortium to welcome Prosecco DOC Rosé and explain its characteristics.

Consortium President Stefano Zanette opened the event by giving a brief history of the association, created in 2009, and the path that led to introducing the new Rosé category. He then closed by thanking all the institutions involved in this long journey. “All our attention now will be towards sustainability, more precisely, towards obtaining a certification of sustainability for the entire denomination with the hope that soon we’ll be toasting to a new green Prosecco DOC” commented Zanette.

There are 12.2 Million bottles of Prosecco Doc Rosé bottled by 85 pioneering wineries and are ready to be marketed globally. The Consortium estimates that 20 million bottles will be bottled and sold by the end of the year, and the number is set to double for 2021, with 40-50 Million bottles estimated to be sold by December 31st, 2021. Italy will absorb around 15-20% of the production, with the rest going to foreign markets such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Scandinavia, and Asia.
