Hey French: You Could Have Done This but You Didn’t

A New Multi-Vintage, Super-Bianco from Veneto’s Famiglia Pasqua

NEW YORK, NY, (Sept. 16, 2020) – Famiglia Pasqua, a leading name in wines from Northeast Italy’s Veneto region, is proud to introduce Hey French: you could have done this, but you didn’t. A rule-breaking multi-vintage Bianco Veneto IGT (bottle shot attached) from the Soave Classico zone, this small-production, still white wine, with an SRP of $40, is now shipping to key markets nationwide.

Hey French “First Edition” is a blend of four vintages, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017, and three grape varieties: 60% Garganega rounded out by Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc. Fruit was sourced from several parcels of vineyard on the Veronese side of Monte Calvarina in the easternmost section of Soave Classico. Volcanic soil provides the potential for structured, long-lived, minerally wines.

It takes experience and confidence to break rules well, and with Hey French the Pasqua family’s rebellious third generation, responsible for launching the best-selling, rule-breaking Romeo & Juliet PassioneSentimento Red and White, has done it again. Pasqua has made classic white wines in the Soave region since 1925, but as third-generation Alessandro Pasqua puts it with respect to the thinking behind this new disruptor: “We wanted to make a high end super-white that would draw fresh attention to our region and, like a great multi-vintage champagne, remain consistently delicious year after year. Hey French is our interpretation of our terroir and grapes, expressed and presented in our own way.”

In a nod to the French regions and winemakers that inspire them, the Pasqua brothers have opted for humor and irony in the choice of name and packaging for this otherwise serious, elegant wine. Appropriately, the label is the creation of the noted French-based, Cuban-born artist CB Hoyo, whose work humorously pokes fun at society.

Pasqua: near Verona in NE Italy’s Veneto region and founded in 1925, Pasqua ranks among the top 20 family-owned wineries in Italy. Since taking over in 2015, brothers Riccardo and Alessandro Pasqua, the third generation now in charge, have been shaking up the very solid business they inherited, placing fresh emphasis on native grapes, and appassimento, the Veneto’s signature grape “raisining” technique. Appassimento is used not only for Pasqua’s Mai Dire Mai Amarone, but unusually for Pasqua’s rule-breaking IGT Romeo & Juliet PassioneSentimento Red and White. Other recent additions include a Romeo & Juliet PassioneSentimento Prosecco, 11 Minutes Rosé, and Mai Dire Mai Valpolicella. https://www.pasqua.it/en/home/
