Tinte Cellars, a boutique family-owned winery founded in Woodinville, WA in 2018, is expanding to the heart of Seattle’s historic Georgetown neighborhood in the late fall of 2020, the company announced today.
Tinte’s newest tasting room and event venue, Tinte Cellars Georgetown will be housed in a refurbished turn of the century landmark building at 5951 Airport Way South.
The award-winning winery’s production facility will remain in Woodinville, and Tinte will continue to welcome guests at its two tasting rooms in Woodinville wine country as before.
“I love the storyline of our newest property’s historical evolution,” said Teresa Spellman Gamble, who co-owns Tinte Cellars along with her husband, Tim Gamble. “Georgetown’s history as a destination for revelers from Seattle before, during and after prohibition makes it a perfect location for us to provide hospitality to our club members in the city, south and west, as well as a chance to introduce our wines more readily to those in a variety of neighborhoods that are distanced from Woodinville.”
Over the last century, the now revitalized Tinte Cellars Georgetown location was previously home to a general store, a folk art shop, and a butchery and smokehouse. Most recently, it was a notable scooter sales and service shop whose iconic rooftop scooter has been saved, restored and will once again assume its rooftop perch, albeit with a proud new paint job.
“We fell in love with Georgetown after spending time in the area when our sons participated in a local rock band camp there a decade ago,” said Spellman Gamble. “When the former scooter shop went up for sale, we jumped at the opportunity to add a new chapter to the historic building’s interesting story.”
Tinte hired Menter Byrne Architects to renovate the space with a goal to keep the old soul of the building alive.
Tinte Cellars Georgetown will retain the original storefront character. The industrial-exposed structure will feature large pane windows, barn red and black shiplap siding, and hardware details with a modern bent. The tasting room and event venue will be flooded with natural light, reclaimed timber, original accents, and a Northwest color palette.
“By retaining the integrity of the landmark structure, we’re striving to maintain an authentic experience that reveres the storied past including traditional Washington winemaking, and melds it with our desire for collaboration with the local community and the creativity that is such a force in this historical Georgetown location,” said Tim Gamble.
“Tinte Cellars Georgetown will be a mix of refined elegance meets rustic,” said Gamble. “It will be an informal and flexible space with bright gallery walls to display local artists’ work, reclaimed timber beams, concrete floors, and mobile, sleek European modern cabinetry.”
Designed for flexibility to accommodate comfortable, regular wine tastings and special functions, the 1600 square foot interior space will draw guests through the front door and out onto the 800 square foot back patio through a tall glass garage door creating a seamless transition from the indoors to the outdoors. Steel and iron gates open the rear patio area to Nebraska Street. A well-appointed catering kitchen will help facilitate events of up to 100 guests on-site.
“Tinte Cellars Georgetown is a natural extension and part of our plan to weave our philanthropic social mission of ‘Great Wine for the Greater Good’ into the fabric of the community,” said Spellman Gamble. “We trust that our new location will be used regularly by nonprofits to further their missions and the important work they do throughout Washington State and also by local patrons to come together and celebrate the best things life in the area has to offer.”

In June of 2018, co-owners and husband and wife team, Tim Gamble and Teresa Spellman Gamble, daughter of the late Washington State Governor John Spellman, purchased Woodinville’s William Church and Cuillin Hills wineries creating the umbrella brand, Tinte Cellars.
Community, volunteerism, and philanthropy formed the foundation of Tim and Teresa’s upbringings; their culture. When they established Tinte Cellars, the business needed to reflect those values and their desire to leave the world better than they found it.
Each year, Tinte Cellars selects a few nonprofit organizations to receive a portion of all wine sales (right off the top). In 2020, five percent of all retail sales and 10% of all wine club sales will be split equally between Mary’s Place, Northwest Harvest, and Seattle Children’s Behavioral Health Crisis Care Clinic. In addition, Tinte invests in a wide range of programs and activities to enable its customers, employees, and partners to amplify their own positive impact on the world. In January 2020, Tinte’s philanthropic commitment of cash and in-kind donations to local nonprofits reached $177,000.
Tinte Cellars has released the following wines under the Tinte Cellars label: Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Syrah, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rosé of Counoise.
