Umberto Cesari, the winery’s founder of which still bears his name, began his winemaking journey in 1964 when he purchased a 20-hectare vineyard in Castel San Pietro Terme, just outside Bologna. Among the first winegrowers in the region to focus on high quality production, Cesari dedicated himself to making wines that truly represent the traditions and authenticity of Emilia Romagna, elevating the image of these regional varietals, specifically Sangiovese, all over the world.

Umberto Cesari winery was founded in the early 1960s by Umberto Cesari in Castel San Pietro Terme, among the hills that dominate the landscape of the ancient Via Emilia on the border between Emilia and Romagna.
