ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA, February 13, 2020 – Pioneering Italian fine wine importer, Empson USA is proud to announce that effective February 1, 2020 is the exclusive importer for Torraccia del Piantavigna from Piedmont, Italy. Wines will be distributed nationwide.

Founded in 1997 by Francoli, Torraccia is the only winery to have significant holdings of both Ghemme and Gattinara, the two prestigious neighboring DOCG’s for the delicate and elegant Nebbiolos of Alto Piemonte. The Company’s 36 hectares of hillside vineyards benefit from the unique climate of the foothills of Monterosa and from an exceptional terroir from the volcanic remains of the super volcano that covered Northern Piemonte.
Today, the current generation draws inspiration from Pierino Piantavigna who planted the family’s first vines nearly 50 years ago, not only by making wines renowned for quality and elegance but also by their attitude towards the local area, the local community and the environment. As a reflection of its work in environmental protection, Torraccia del Piantavigna was honored in 2014, 2017 and 2018 with the prestigious Eco-Friendly award from the Touring Club Italiano.
