SANTA ROSA, CA, NOVEMBER 22, 2019— Autumn is among the most desirable times of year to visit Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley, and the region’s appeal to wine lovers and tourists is undiminished following the Kincade Fire. Hotels, restaurants, tasting rooms, and other visitors’ services are currently open and welcoming customers. The six distinct “neighborhoods” comprising the Russian River Valley appellation are back to being as beautiful and vibrant as ever. The Russian River Valley Winegrowers (RRVW) are also luring visitors by offering great deals. Travelers who visit russianrivervalley.org/special-offer and use the code RRVW at member wineries will discover 2-for-1 tastings, upgraded tastings, discounts on wines, and more. Offers vary by winery and most will be honored through the end of February.
“The late fall and into the holiday season is a spectacular time to visit the Russian River Valley and Sonoma County,” said winegrower and RRVW board president Chris Crispo. “We’re nothing if not resilient. Our member wineries stand ready to offer their unique brand of Sonoma Wine Country hospitality, along with our partners in the lodging, restaurant, and other tourism-friendly business.”
The more than 200 wine growers and wineries that comprise the RRVW emerged from the Kincade Fire largely unscathed. Approximately 95 percent of the 2019 vintage had already been harvested before the Kincade Fire started. Growers are still assessing the impact of the fire on the vines themselves, although long-term effects are likely to be negligible.
