Wente Vineyards Announces New Packaging Across Its Fine Wine Portfolio

Packaging will emphasize CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE designation with a new pronounced logo

LIVERMORE VALLEY, CA – August 2, 2019 – Wente Vineyards, America’s longest continuously family-owned and operated winery, is thrilled to announce a fresh new look for its portfolio of fine wines. With an eye toward the future, Wente Vineyards has unveiled new packaging that accentuates classic, clean lines and a contemporary, elegant color palate that visually aligns with the quality of the wine inside the bottle.

Touting its new look as an “evolution, not a revolution,” the celebrated winery made sure to maintain its logo’s core and the equity in its simplicity, while still refreshing the general package to drive freshness, relevance and a bit more of a modern feel to relate to today’s Wente Vineyards audience. The transition has been taking place over the course of the past year, with new designs rolling out by wine collection. The new labeling on bottles (as well as shippers and other related packaging) are designed to clearly communicate the information consumers most value, including more pronounced designations like the winery’s signature estate grown and single vineyard bottlings.

The CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE logo will now appear on all back labels of 2017 vintage wines and later, as well as on all shippers. As of 2019, Wente Vineyards is among only 3% of California wineries to have achieved the CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE (short for Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing) designation for both its vineyard and winery.  Any winegrowing operation hoping to attain the CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE designation must meet a stringent set of criteria in order to preserve and protect their land, water, and air, but also demonstrate ethical leadership with how they treat their employees and local communities.

Wente Vineyards was one of 18 pilot wineries to achieve certification in 2010, and including the official CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE logo on all packaging going forward will help increase demand for sustainable wines across the board.

The Wente family’s sustainability philosophy dates back to 1883, but today’s fifth generation winegrowers Karl & Niki Wente have recently upgraded the winery, vineyard, tasting rooms and now packaging to meet (and exceed) their family’s CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE-inspired goals.

“As a family-owned winery that has a 136-year history, we keep innovation along with tradition top of mind.  This refreshed update of our labels reflects our commitment to continuous improvement.” stated Aly Wente, Senior Brand Manager and 5th generation winegrower.
