The Bonnie family will host 70 people from around the world with 17 countries, assembled to reflect on the future of fine wines, in the bucolic setting of Château Malartic-Lagravière on 4 and 5 July. Attendees will consist of journalists, authors, producers, and professionals from the world of wine, who represent all aspects of fine wine culture. They will include: Eric Asimov (the New York Times), Jeannie Cho Lee (MW), Jancis Robinson (MW), Jane Anson and Steven Spurrier (Decanter), Michel Bettane (Bettane & Desseauve), Anne-Catherine Grimal (Communication Director for Moet Hennessy LVMH group), Philippe Leveau (Invivo Wines), Elin McCoy (Bloomberg), Laura Catena (Catena Zapata), Guillaume Déglise (Albert Bichot), Henri de Pracomtal (Taransaud), and Maggie Henriques (Krug), among others.

For two days, Château Malartic-Lagravière thus promises to be the scene of lively discussion and debate! A series of round tables and panels will cover all aspects of the world of fine wines, from new taste and style, to climate adaptation, distribution, new markets, consumers & marketing, and wine tourism & digital economy.

It’s a world that is dear to the Bonnies, whose wine-making adventures began over two decades ago, when Alfred and Michèle Bonnie, of Belgian origin, fell under the spell of Château Malartic-Lagravière, a Grand Cru Classé de Graves in Léognan, near Bordeaux. They have gradually passed the reins to their children Véronique and Jean-Jacques, who now manage Vignobles Malartic with great energy and commitment. In 2005 the family also acquired Château Gazin Rocquencourt (Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux) and Bodega DiamAndes (Mendoza, Argentina).

Since 1997, with continuous, tireless energy, Alfred and Michèle have passed a vision onto their children inspired by a taste for innovation and a commitment to looking after their land… As a result, they apply, with a constantly questioning attitude, the highest possible standards in the both the vineyard and the winery, with a view to achieving the sublime expression of this gravelly terroir that it so richly deserves!

The same spirit of rigour and curiosity naturally led them to accept immediately to host this third edition. That Malartic should be the setting for a think tank on the future of fine wine was obvious!
