A delicious celebration of amazing wines and culinary excellence
New York City (May 17, 2019) – Côtes du Rhône is thrilled to announce the debut of the Côtes du Rhône Festival. Produced by culinary agency Taste Network, the fête kicks off summer with an experience dedicated to discovering the wine, food and atmosphere of the Côtes du Rhône, located in the south of France. The event will be hosted at Second Floor, a stunning open-air venue in Manhattan, on Sunday, June 23rd from 5:15-8:30pm.
Côtes du Rhône, meaning “the hillsides of the Rhône [River]”, is comprised of over 98,000 vineyard acres, 171 varied terroirs and 21 grape varieties. The Côtes du Rhône AOCs—which include Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages and 17 Crus—is one of the largest in France and one of the oldest, having been planted originally by the Greeks and the Romans in approximately 125 BC.
Over 60 wines will be showcased throughout the festival from a seminar to the main tasting. These wines span the different styles of the Côtes du Rhône, highlighting the diversity and heritage of the area. Guests can explore them alongside a regionally inspired menu—featuring the flavors of lavender, truffles and olives—crafted by celebrated chefs. Participating chefs include Tyler Atwell of Lafayette Grand Café and Kimberly Plafke of Grand Army, as well as artisan Baker Raymond Smith of Blacksmith’s Breads and Salumi-Maker Drew Buzzio of Salumeria Biellese.

Attendees will be immersed in a sensory and visual decor reminiscent of the Rhône river, the vast vineyards surrounded by rolling hills (côtes), and the amazing medley of scents: lavender fields, olive groves, orchards, thyme and rosemary, pine and oak trees.”
