APTOS, Calif. (April 24, 2019)–On Saturday, May 18, 2019, the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Education Foundation (SCMWEF) hosts the fifth annual Silicon Valley Wine Auction benefiting the Oxford Teacher Academy and Silicon Valley Education Foundation Elevate Math program. With a goal of raising funds to transform education through innovation, the auction has raised over $3.7 million dollars since the inaugural event in 2015.
The dinner will take place at Eden Estates, the private home of John Couch, who was formerly the vice president of education for Apple. The evening begins with a walk-around tasting of Santa Cruz Mountains wines poured by the winemakers themselves. Following the tasting, guests will be invited to dinner, which will be prepared by Caterer Pamela and Co. Menu highlights include, a red wine risotto, filet of beef tenderloin with a pinot noir porcini chive glaze and a chocolate tartufo bomba for dessert, all paired with premium wines from the AVA. Throughout dinner, guests will be treated to speeches and performances by special guests. Notable attendees include Dr. Todd Rose, author of End of Average and Dark Horse and founder of Populace.org; Mark Presky, author and the executive director of the Global Future Education Foundation and Institute; and Esther Wojcicki, educator and author of How to Raise Successful Kids.
Highlights from the auction include intimate wine dinners with principles of Santa Cruz Mountains wineries such as Ridge Vineyards, House Family Vineyards and Eden Estates, as well as a weekend experience at the private ranch of Scott Cook and Signe Otsby.

About Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Education Foundation
The Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Education Foundation is the nonprofit body of the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association, an alliance of more than 70 wineries promoting wines produced from the Santa Cruz Mountains Viticultural Appellation, federally recognized in 1981. The Santa Cruz Mountains appellation was among the first to be defined by mountain topography, following the fog line along the coast to include the highest vineyards on the ridge tops—some as high as 2600 feet elevation. The region encompasses the Santa Cruz Mountains range and extends from Woodside in the north to Watsonville in the south; and from Monterey Bay along the coast to Silicon Valley inland. The goal of SCMWEF is to invest deeply in areas of Children’s education and health research to create a positive impact in our local communities.
